The CapTel phone works like any other telephone with one important addition: it shows captions of everything the other party says during a phone call. You can listen to the caller and can also read written captions in the CapTel display window.
Captions are provided by a free service that connects to every call you place. People who call you dial the service first, then enter your phone number so that you can see captions during their call.**

**People who use CapTel 800i or who use CapTel 200 in 2-Line mode do not need callers to dial the service first. Callers can dial the user’s phone number directly, and the user will automatically see captions.
